Eyelid Repair
Eyelid repair can be in the form of lower eyelid surgery or upper eyelid surgery. Many factors have to be reviewed to determine the severity and the condition that exist to cause the abnormalities. Dr. R. Della Rocca will personally review each patient individually and provide a private examination to determine the best course of action to remedy the existing condition.
Eyelid surgery is very personalized because changing the shape or reducing the eyelid may leave your eyelids functioning improperly such as remaining open at night while sleeping. It is very important that you trust your eyes to someone such as Dr. R. Della Rocca who has performed thousands of eye surgeries and knows how the best surgical technique to achieve the best results.
THE SURGERY

There are a number of surgical techniques for successfully repairing the eyelids. The most common surgical treatment involves tightening of the eyelid and its attachments to restore the lid to its normal position.
The surgery to repair eyelids is usually performed as an outpatient procedure under local anesthesia. Patients may wear a patch overnight and then use an antibiotic oinTMent for about one week. Most patients experience immediate resolution of the problem following surgery.
OTHER OPTIONS

Sometimes eyelid lifts are combined with other procedures called endoscopic eyebrow and forehead lifts to improve the height and maintain the contour of the upper eyebrow. Dr. Della Rocca will discuss whether you might benefit from this combined procedure during your initial consultation.
THE RECOVERY
Recovery from eyelid surgery is complete within seven to ten days. A small amount of lumpiness is usual at the corners of the eyes. Minimal blurry vision quickly resolves. Sunglasses allow you to go out in public immediately after surgery, and make-up can be worn within about one week. Normal activity can be resumed the next day, and exercise can be resumed within 7 to 10 days after surgery.
