RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGICAL PROCEDURES

Drooped Eyelids - Upper eyelid blocking part of the field of vision (ptosis).

Orbital Surgery - Surgery relating to the boney socket in you skull that houses your eye.

Ectropion -
Lower eyelid is sagging or turned out away from the eye.

Entropion - Eyelid and eyelashes are turned toward and irritating the eye.

Congenital Eyelid Abnormalities- Displacement and malposition of the eyelids in children.

Lacrimal (tear duct) Abnormalities -  Blockage of tear duct drainage causing increased tearing and at times infection near the eye.

Orbital Fractures -  Fractures of the bones surrounding and protecting the eye.

Orbital Tumors - Benign or malignant tumors around or behind the eye with the eye socket.

Eyelid  Trauma Reconstruction - Repair of injured eyelids and tissue around the eyes included lacerated tear ducts.

Socket Reconstruction - Reconstruct the socket after injury in preparation for prosthesis placement.

Tear Duct Surgery - For Blocked or malfunctioning Tear Duct.



RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY

Reconstructive eye surgery is multifaceted and involves the surgical and medical treatment of diseases and abnormalities of the eyelids, midface and orbit.  The conditions treated are diverse and can include single or multiple problems.  Orbital and eyelid injuries, tumors, developmental and congenital problems in children and adults and acquired diseases involving the eyelids and tearduct system and treatment of thyroid related eye disease comprise many of the diseases and abnormalities treated. 

As an ophthalmic plastic surgeons I believe that effective planning and sound decisions regarding the care of our patients is of paramount importance. Thorough and careful analysis of these conditions may require CT and MRI scanning and at times multispecialty consultation.

Our experience and comprehensive knowledge of the important structures in this area and their function and analyzing the unique findings in each patients results in appropriate and good "decision making”.

The choice of the "right surgical procedure or medical treatment” best preserves eye function and at times may save vision or prevent vision loss. Our purpose as eye reconstructive surgeons is directed to utilize our diagnostic and surgical skills, to improve function of the eyelids, to protect the eyes and repair structural and tissue abnormalities around the eyes.
